DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 28 DECEMBER 2021 — Discipline pays
DCLM Higher Everyday 28 DECEMBER 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi —Discipline pays
TOPIC: DISCIPLINE PAYS
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-27
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
MEMORY VERSE: “He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity” (JOB 36:10).
MESSAGE:
George Foreman was a two-time heavyweight boxing champion of the world. At the age of 45, he became the oldest man in the world to win the title. He started his comeback by getting rid of his excess weight, after ballooning from 220 to 315 pounds.

He got back into a daily exercise regimen. But because he was so out of shape, he could not run beyond a mile, before gasping for air. Everyone ridiculed him each time he slowly shuffled past their houses.

Only two people believed he could recapture the title – he and his wife. But, proper diet and regular exercise helped George to finally regain his weight of 229 pounds, and he went ahead to win the championship title.
Something may be eating you up. All you need do is to discipline yourself to overcome your challenges. Your friends may ridicule and discourage you, but be resolute, if you know that you are on the right track.
Your own over-weight could be an inexplicable indulgence in immorality. Repent, and the LORD will help you.
QUOTE: Discipline yourself.
CHALLENGE: Be resolute, if you know that you are on the right track.
PRAYER: Help me, O God, to set achievable goals.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
