DCLM Sincere Milk 8 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Deliverance For Blind Hearts
Topic: Deliverance For Blind Hearts
Text: Ephesians 4:17-22
18Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20But ye have not so learned Christ;
21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Key Verse: “Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:” Ephesians 4:18
Message
You have heard of or seen a blind person before. Blindness affects the eyes; it is a sad thing to be blind. Google tells us that 2.2 billion people globally have partial blindness or no sight. There are five main causes of blindness, with the most common being cataract, affecting 65 million people including children. It is strange to learn that blindness does not only affect the eyes. Our key verse tells us of people who have blind hearts. A blind heart is more terrible sickness than having a blind eye. A friend of Jesus will go to heaven though he/she may be blind in his/her eyes, but a child who has a blind heart cannot live with Jesus in heaven. A blind heart is a heart darkened with sinful thoughts, having no understanding of God’s righteous ways, is disobedient and separated from God and ignorant of the way of salvation through Christ.
Jesus alone has power to heal both physical and spiritual blindness. Repent from every sinful thought and unrighteous conduct. Ask God to forgive you and also wash your heart clean with the blood of Jesus. Pray and invite Jesus to shine His light of righteousness into your heart and you will now see and walk in the path that leads to eternal life in heaven.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, take away the darkness of sin from my heart and help me to walk in the right path.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
