DCLM Higher Everyday 29 December 2023 — How Has Your Service Been?
Topic: How Has Your Service Been?
Text: Ephesians 6:5-8
5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Key Verse: “With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men” (Ephesians 6:7).
Message
One key reason why a number of companies and corporations fold up soon after they commence operation is the poor service that is rendered by their workers. Such employees only do their work with all commitment when their employers or superior officers are around to monitor their activities. But in their absence, they handle the work with the ‘I don’t care’ attitude. They deceptively work to please their employers, not the Omniscient God. This is what is called ‘eyeservice.’
Christians need to understand that they have been regenerated and transformed by Christ. As such, they cannot render a deceptive service either to man or God. While human bosses could be deceived, God cannot because He is omniscient. Also, God will adequately reward every good service we render in His vineyard whether in soul winning, choir, cleaning or in other activities. Have you served well this year? Evaluate the service you render at home, school and church fellowship. Samuel served well and God discussed the impending judgment on the priests with him. Is your service acceptable to God?
Quote: Evaluate the service you render
Challenge: Is your service acceptable to God?
Prayer for today: Make my service acceptable to You, Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
