DCLM Daily Manna 10 June 2024 — Our Supreme Task

DCLM Daily Manna 10 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Our Supreme Task

TOPIC: Our Supreme Task (DCLM Daily Manna 10 June 2024)

KEY VERSE: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

TEXT: Mark 16:15-20 (KJV)

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Hansen wrote his grandmother about his absolute delight at meeting and engaging with his new heroin (rather than heroine). He succeeded at turning what he intended for her joy into a medical emergency. The poor grandma missed several heartbeats at the thought of her beloved grandson sliding into drug use and, worse still, brazenly boasting about it. A tragedy of far greater proportions ensues when a believer or an entire local church permits the omission of the great commission.

Christ’s parting charge to His disciples has far-reaching implications for the existence and destiny of the Church. The early disciples realised that preaching the gospel and making disciples is part of God’s great redemption plan, which involved sending His only begotten Son to a gruesome death on the cross. Therefore, they set about the task with utmost passion.

Christ’s “Go ye” is a ministry imperative rather than an appeal, suggestion or advice. Prompt and persistent obedience is the only response the Master expects. The early disciples had no access to sophisticated technology and means of transportation as we have today, yet they fulfilled their mandate. Souls perish, societies remain morally bankrupt and Satan rejoices when soul- winning is neglected. Failure to develop converts into disciples causes the church to become a sad nursery where converts become perpetual spiritual babies.

The onus for world evangelisation lies on us. We may not be responsible for the generations past or future, but we certainly are responsible for this generation. We must preach Christ without restriction or obstruction. Failure to do so puts us among the faithless and disobedient.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“Do not make the great commission your great omission” is certainly more than a play on words.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
