DCLM Sincere Milk  24 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThe Origin Of The Bible

Topic: The Origin Of The Bible

Text: 2Timothy 3:14-17

14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Key Verse: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

Message

The Bible is the greatest Book on earth, widely read by many people. It is also a very special book because since its existence, it hasn’t changed and cannot be edited, it still remains the same. Every book on Earth has an author and it is same for the Bible. The Bible did not just appear, it originated from somewhere and has an author too. The Author of the Bible is the Holy Spirit. He was the One who inspired the men of old to write what was compiled today as the Bible.

As children of God, we should always study our Bible even more than we read our school books and other books. Knowing that the Bible is God’s Word and was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it means that we must study the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit because He is the author of the Bible. Have you been trying to read the Bible but you don’t understand it? Whenever you want to read the Bible, make a short prayer asking the Holy Spirit to help you.

Further Reading: 1 Peter 2:2

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help me to always study Your word and also to understand it in Jesus’ Name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
