DCLM Daily Manna 3 July 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Our Impregnable Fortress

TOPIC: “Our Impregnable Fortress” (DCLM Daily Manna 3 July 2024)

KEY VERSE: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

TEXT: Psalm 46:1-10 (KJV)

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

In the first stanza of his 1529 hymn, “A Mighty Fortress”, Martin Luther, a German theologian, wrote, “A Mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe; his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal”.

This quote underscores God’s incomparable capacity and unparalleled testimony to keep and shield His people from every type of calamity or enemy. The Christian is assured in the text of God’s all-powerful presence at all times. He can keep, guide and fight our battles. When dependable people, trusted friends or material things fail, God is always there for you. All raging wars and conflicts against His children end at His command and their enemies will be found liars unto them.

God does not often keep storms away from us but preserves us while they are raging. Storms do not mar but make saints of God. Many believers do not enjoy His supernatural intervention in their travails because they allow their fears to overwhelm them and blind their eyes to God’s protective power over them. Are you going through any storms or difficult situations now? Look up and see God in your storms. Sing, smile and praise Him in your storms, and you will see His glory. He is your refuge and a very present help in troubles.

Never forget that the One with you is greater than those in the world. He is bigger than any problem that you cannot see. When fear assails, remind yourself of His unfailing promises. Read and meditate on God’s word daily, appropriate the promises to claim your victory through prevailing prayer.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
God is our impregnable Defence.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
