DCLM Daily Manna 3 August 2024 — The Dread Of Condemnation

DCLM Daily Manna 3 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Dread Of Condemnation

TOPIC: The Dread Of Condemnation (DCLM Daily Manna 3 August 2024)

KEY VERSE: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).

TEXT: John 3:18-36 (KJV)

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.

24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purifying.

26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.

33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

A stanza of Charles Wesley’s Hymn “And can it be that I should gain” reads: “No condemnation now I dread; Jesus and all in Him is mine! Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness Divine; Bold I approach the eternal throne, And claim the crown through Christ my own.”

The songwriter paints a gloomy picture of the dread and torment of condemnation. So, freedom from condemnation brings great relief to the soul. When offenders are tried and charges against them are proven, they are condemned and sentenced as stipulated by law. In today’s text, humanity stands condemned before God because of sin. All men have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But Jesus paid the penalty for our sins by becoming an acceptable sin offering on our behalf before God. Now, God, who is both the Judge and the offended party, is satisfied by the offering of Jesus and He is ready to cancel the “guilty verdict” on all those who genuinely repent and believe in Jesus Christ.

When you come to Christ, the condemnation for all past sins and the guilt that haunts your soul are taken away. God pardons all your former sins because the just claims of the law have been satisfied by Jesus Christ. Believing in the Saviour gives total freedom from condemnation – condemnation by Satan, self- condemnation and eternal condemnation at the judgment seat of Christ.

Are you free from condemnation? Denying or rationalising your sins will not absolve you from condemnation; only sincere repentance and faith in Christ will justify you. Jesus Christ invites you to receive genuine freedom and rest for your soul.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Only the blood of Jesus Christ is potent enough to wash away the guilt stain

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
