DCLM Sincere Milk 14 August 2024 — Thank You Is Not Enough

DCLM Sincere Milk  14 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiThank You Is Not Enough

Topic: Thank You Is Not Enough

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Key Verse: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Message

Just before she slept that Sunday evening, Regina began to think about Jesus’ sacrifice and suffering on the cross to save her from the punishment and consequences of her sins. After a short time, she began to pray. “Dear God, I realize that just saying, “Thank You Jesus” is not enough to appreciate You for all You have done for me. “I give my heart, my life, my all to You. Lord, please help me to live for You.” As she prayed, tears rolled down her cheeks.

Just saying “thank you” is never enough to appreciate God for His great love. In fact, no words can ever be enough. To show appreciation to God for His great love, you must also live in obedience to His word and please Him in all that you do, even when people make jest of you for doing the right things. Follow the example of Regina. Make up your mind to live to please God in all things. Surrender your heart and life completely to God. Pray and ask Him to help you.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, help me to obey You in all things and live my life to please You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
