KEY VERSE: “And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep” – Genesis 28:11

TEXT: Genesis 28:10-19 (KJV)

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Cornerstones are solid pieces of rock mainly used to construct towers and buildings. Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian king, saw a Stone in his dream. This Stone was without hand. The Stone in that dream, cut without hand, is Jesus. His birth was without human agency; He lived a supernatural life; His resurrection was without human help; His ascension into heaven was without human assistance. He will also return at rapture without human involvement.

Jacob was running away from the death threat of his twin brother, Esau. On his way to Haran, he stopped to rest at sunset and used stones for his pillows. As he dosed off, he dreamt where he saw God’s angels ascending and descending on a ladder reaching heaven. Above the ladder stood God, who reaffirmed the covenant made with Abraham and Isaac, to give them and their seed Canaan’s land. God also promised to bless and be with him everywhere he went.

Jesus is the Cornerstone the believer can rely on in all situations. He is a promise Keeper. His promises are eternal, fixed, fresh and dependable. There is no possibility of failure because God is faithful, and mightier than any contrary force. He is immutable and immovable; nothing can change His utterances or proclamations.

Whatever challenge we may face, Jesus is the strong, reliable solid Rock that can shield us at all times. He has solution to all challenges, be they besetting sins, sicknesses, afflictions of Satan, barrenness, unemployment, backwardness, or failure. As you pray to the Lord, trust Him to see you through, and He will.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God is immutable; His power remains unchanged

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
