DCLM Higher Everyday 1 October 2024 — Faith For a Great Future

DCLM Higher Everyday 1 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiFaith For a Great Future

Topic: Faith For a Great Future

Text: Mark 7:24-30

24And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

25For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

26The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

27But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

28And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.

29And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

30And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

Key Verse: “And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs” (Mark 7:28).

Message

Obstacles and negative situations could not deter the woman in our text today from obtaining what she wanted from the Lord. She believed that the “crumbs” that fell from the table were enough to meet her need. This Syrophenician woman did not give up on her demand from the Lord. Not letting go, Jesus acceded to her request. Her confession brought her the needed miracle.

“Impossible is the word found only in a fool’s dictionary. Wise people create opportunities for themselves and make everything possible…” submitted Napoleon Bonaparte. With God all things are possible. When your situation seems negative, confess what God says in His Word. Situations around us may be bad but God can change them. Nigeria gained her Independence from the British Colonial masters on October 1st 1960. That is 64 years today! Looking at the national journey so far, not much has been achieved, both politically and economically. Hence, some citizens ask for a break up of the union, but others see possibilities in staying united. We must have faith in our national project. We can make it. Happy Independence Anniversary celebrations!

Quote: Confess what God says

Challenge: Never utter negative words.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, help me to have faith in Your word always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
