DCLM Sincere Milk 25 October 2024 — An Example
DCLM Sincere Milk 25 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — An Example
Topic: An Example
Text: John 13:12-17
12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Key Verse: “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” John 13:15
Message
Example 1! Example 2! Example 3! Example 4! The students began to whisper to one another immediately they sighted Miss Thomson, the Mathematics teacher.’ She was nicknamed “Miss Example.” This was because for every topic, she would work many examples before giving a sum to the pupils to attempt. She was always pleased with any student that did according to the examples she has taught.

Every bit of Jesus’ word or action was to show example to His friends. So many examples; in humility, in holiness, in obedience, in submission, in love, in mercy, in faithfulness and in every area of His life. Having shown us so many examples, do we have any reason to go wrong? Wherever you find yourself today, before you speak or take any action, pause and ask yourself “What example does Jesus want me to show here?” If you do as the Spirit of God instructs, then you will be counted among those who follow the examples of our Lord. And so, you will be blessed.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to follow Your examples in all I think, say and do.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
