DCLM Higher Everyday 26 October 2024 — Bear Others’ Burdens
DCLM Higher Everyday 26 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Bear Others’ Burdens
Topic: Bear Others’ Burdens
Text: Galatians 6:1-5
1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
4But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5For every man shall bear his own burden.
Key Verse:“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
Message
Walter Scott decared that, “The race of mankind would perish did they cease to aid each other. We cannot exist without mutual help. All therefore that need aid have a right to ask it from their fellowmen; and no one who has the power of granting can refuse it without guilt.” Helping one another means bearing one another’s burdens.
As a hallmark of fulfilling the law of Christ, believers are admonished to exercise forbearance, compassion and support to those in pain, tribulation, infirmities and lack.
Believers are not to engage in gossip, talebearing and the likes or express any form of self-importance that relegates help to those in need to the background.

Paul here admonishes brethren to support and restore the weak, believers and those brought down by sin. This must be done in humility and sincerity and with awareness of the reckoning day where all work will be evaluated by the great Judge. Christ bore our greatest burden; we ought to reciprocate His love by helping the brethren that need help because by doing so we are pleasing God.
Quote: Support and restore the weak
Challenge: Christ bore my greatest burden.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to humbly support those in need.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
