DCLM Higher Everyday 25 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Meet Jesus, The Messiah
Topic: Meet Jesus, The Messiah
Text: John 1:26-36
26John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
28These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Key Verse: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
Message
In 2020, Jemimah Marcus who won a Spelling Bee met with the Governor of her State. She was honoured to become a one-day Governor. When she met the Governor, she described him as a “transformational leader.” Who you meet and your decisions will determine your destiny. Jesus the Messiah whom John met can provide all things that pertain to your salvation, success and all life’s blessings – blessings greater than any governor can give.

Jesus came into this world to fulfill the purpose of taking away our sins. Like John demonstrated, it takes humility and desire to meet the Messiah, Christ who stands at the door of your heart and knocks for you to open and meet Him. He does not want your soul to perish. As John looked upon Jesus, so also sinning youths should look unto Jesus; beholding Him as the Lamb of God who takes away sins. Jesus will save you, strengthen and upholds you to be fit for your heaven-ward journey. He is ever willing to help those who come to Him desiring His salvation.
Quote: He is ever willing to help
Challenge: Accept the Messiah today.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I receive you as the Lamb of God for my salvation.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
