DCLM Sincere Milk 12 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Choose Rightly
Topic: Choose Rightly
Text: Proverbs 14:12-16
12There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
Key Verse: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
Message
Many children are not aware that there are some things that appear good but, in the light of God’s word are sinful, and will not go unpunished unless the child repents and turns away from such. The eating of the forbidden fruit by Adam and Eve in disobedience to God’s instruction looked good, but it was not the right thing to do. This act of disobedience resulted in God’s judgment and punishment for them and their future generation.

Watching cartoons or playing games when you should be doing the house chores or school homework may seem appealing to the lazy child, it is not the right thing to do. Telling a lie to avoid punishment may appear good, but it is a way of destruction. Dressing in a way that exposes your body may appear fashionable, but it is a form of disobedience with serious consequences. Choose to be unique like Daniel and Ruth. Do only what is right, that pleases God and agrees with His word every day. God will help you, if you sincerely ask Him.

Prayer for today; Dear Father, please help me to do only what is right and perfect in Your eyes today and every day.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
