KEY VERSE: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting” (Galatians 6:7,8)
TEXT: Galatians 6:7-10 (KJV)
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Today’s portion of Scripture encapsulates the divine law of sowing and reaping. It warns against the self-deception that one can sow evil and expect to reap good. In nature, we harvest the kind of seed we sow in multiples of what was sown. So, if a person sows to the flesh by living in indulgence and fleshly gratifications, he should expect a harvest of corruption in this life and hereafter. On the other hand, if we sow to the Spirit – living a Holy Spirit controlled life of righteousness and godliness – we shall reap everlasting life. What we see in our lives today results from what we sowed in the past; what we sow in the present will determine what we reap in the future.
The law of sowing and reaping also applies to giving of our substance to support God’s work and the needy ones. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all men because we shall reap the harvest, soon. Apostle Paul made it plain that those who sow sparingly would reap sparingly and those who sow bountifully would reap bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6). Every good farmer knows he must plant good seeds in a fertile land to reap a bountiful harvest. Even so, we must not sow among thorns. We must sow our resources in God’s kingdom rather than into worldly associations or ventures that only yield meagre or no returns.

If you hope to reap bountiful returns, give bountifully to support gospel preaching. Sow in faith in the appropriate season. Sow cheerfully, sacrificially and persistently without fainting.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
