DCLM Higher Everyday 28 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiPersonal Hygiene

Topic: Personal Hygiene

Text: Numbers 8:5-7

5And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

6Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

7And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.

Key Verse: “And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean” (Numbers 8:7).

Message

Charles Hudson Spurgeon said, “Everything depends upon the man’s personal condition; for the diseased eye beauty does not exist, for the disordered palate sweetness is no longer to be found, and to a deaf ear harmony is silent. Our happiness depends more upon our own personal condition than upon our surroundings.” The Scripture clearly shows us how keenly interested God is in our cleanliness and healthy living. He commanded Moses to ensure that the Levites were clean before they could execute His service.

We need to take regular bath to remove germs from the body, eat balanced diet and not junks, do regular hand washing and sanitization, avoid drug abuse (go for medical consultations), do normal bodily exercises like taking a walk or jogging; have enough sleep to relax the body and to reduce muscular tension, drink water regularly instead of carbonated drinks, take vegetables and fruits, etc. Do not forget that personal hygiene promotes fruitful interpersonal relationships, but an unhygienic youth does not have friends because of the stench that oozes out of his body.

Quote: Take regular bath

Challenge: Cleanliness is next to godliness.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to practise personal hygiene.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
