Topic: My Counsellor
Text: Psalm 119:22-24
22Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
23Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
24Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.
Key Verse: “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.” Psalm 119:24
Message
A president or a ruler of a single country often has up to twenty or more advisers or counsellors. All these people are experts in their various fields of knowledge. They advise or tell the leader what to do in a particular area in order to lead the people in peace and prosperity. Any leader that rejects the pieces of advice from his appointed counsellors will regret his action. Yet, one thing is that their counsels are of limited value, since the advisers or counsellors, being human, have limited knowledge and do not know the future.

But there is a great Counsellor Who always advises aright. It is God’s word. God knows the end from the beginning. We can follow His word without any fear of making a mistake. Christians who do not enjoy reading, thinking on and obeying the word of God cannot live a victorious life free from mistakes and sin. The word of God must counsel or instruct you on what to think, say, do and where to go and who to make friend with in a godly way. Take counsel daily in God’s word as you read your Bible, study and obey its sacred pieces of advice.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to make Your word my counsellor and my guide, teach me to obey it always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
