Topic: Jesus’ Brothers and Sisters
Text: Mark 3:31-35
31There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
33And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
34And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
35For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
Key Verse: “For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” Mark 3:35
Message
One of the questions during the Bible Quiz competition was; ‘Mention the names of two brothers of Jesus.’ The competing child quickly answered Judas and Joses. “That is correct!” said the Quiz Master. But, in our key verse today, Jesus reveals those who are actually His brothers and sisters. He teaches us how to become or how He chooses His brothers and sisters. We are not brothers and sisters of Jesus because we were born by Virgin Mary. We are His brothers and sisters if we do the will of God. What then is the will of God? The will of God is that we repent from all bad ways and believe in the holy true God and in Jesus Christ Whom He has sent to save us from sin.

Are you Jesus’ brother or sister? Can you remember the time you turned away from all your bad ways, made Jesus your Saviour and from that day continue to do the will of God? Rejoice, for indeed you are the real brother and sister of the Saviour; but if not, bow your head and pray now.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, forgive me all my sins, wash me with your blood and grant me the grace to do God’s will always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
