DCLM Higher Everyday 14 February 2025 — Partying In Purity

DCLM Higher Everyday 14 February 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiPartying In Purity

Topic: Partying In Purity

Text: Job 1:1-5

1There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

2And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

3His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

4And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

5And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Key Verse: “And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them (Job 1:4).

Message

Job was concerned about his personal life and the souls of his children. He offered burnt-offering for each of them to atone for their sins. This, Jesus has done for us to gain acceptance with God. The sons of Job usually kept a rotatory feast with invitation extended to their sisters. Children of God can have occasions to celebrate. Instances as graduations, anniversaries, spectacular feats, great achievements, call for feasting. Purity must be our watchword. Forbidden items such as alcoholic drinks and things that inflame the flesh and sinful passion must not feature in our party, even on Valentine Day.

Our parties must be devoid of ostentation or manifestation of the works of the flesh – fornication, uncleanness, immodest dressing, and rowdiness. Miscreants who will come to disorganize the party must not be welcomed in our celebrations. Our conducts must be regulated by the word of God. Moderation should be our guide. The Lord may come at that moment so that we may be counted worthy. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Quote: Moderation should be our guide.

Challenge: Glorify God in all you do.

Prayer for today: Help your children, Lord, to keep pure on this Valentine Day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
