DCLM Sincere Milk 26 February 2025 — The Power Of Salt
DCLM Sincere Milk 26 February 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Power Of Salt
Topic: The Power Of Salt
Text: Matthew 5:13-16
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Key Verse: “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted?” Matthew 5:13a
Message
Salt is well-known for its sweetness; it adds sweetness to the food we eat daily. Salt also acts as a preservative, it preserves food, it is also an alternative to refrigerator. Despite the beautiful use of salt, it might lose its flavour under certain conditions when it contains chemical impurities. Other possible reasons might be: if the salt has absorbed humidity and eventually evaporated and left behind a substance that looks like salt but did not taste like it.

Our Lord Jesus Christ made reference to salt as a preservative. He said, “ye are the salt of the earth” which means we have a duty as friends of Jesus to preserve the purity and holiness in our lives despite what we see around us. You also have a duty to warn others of the danger of remaining in sin.
Your life must sweeten others, do not lose your sweetness to the cares of this life and to fleshly lust. You must turn away from your bad ways and return to God. Then pray that your life will sweeten others so you can be a source of blessing to them.
Prayer for today: I pray that my life will sweeten others so they can through me come to Christ.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
