DCLM Sincere Milk 14 April 2025 — Thirty Pieces Of Silver
DCLM Sincere Milk 14 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Thirty Pieces Of Silver
Topic: Thirty Pieces Of Silver
Text: Matthew 26:14-16,23,24
14Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
16And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
23And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
24The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
Key Verse: “And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.” Matthew 26:15
Message
It is good to like and desire to have good things like clothing, food, money, friends etc., but nothing should be desired as much as, or more than, Jesus in our hearts. The most important thing in our hearts must be to love and obey God. This was not the case with Judas Iscariot. He loved money more than Jesus, the Saviour of the whole world. He betrayed Him and sold Him for thirty pieces of silver.

For Judas Iscariot, it was money (30 pieces of silver). What is like thirty pieces of silver to you? What do you prefer and would rather do than obey God. What is that sinful thing that you find difficult to stop doing, even when you know it is wrong? Is it telling lies, fighting, unforgiveness, etc.? Repent of all these things now before it becomes too late.
Anything desired more than God and His word leads astray and comes with negative consequences. Judas collected the thirty pieces of silver but never spent them and never enjoyed them before he died. What a loss! Ask Jesus to forgive and cleanse you from all sins if you are still doing bad things.

Prayer for today: Dear God, I surrender my heart to You. Please help me to love You more than everything and everyone.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
