DCLM Higher Everyday 22 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pray For Missionaries
Topic: Pray For Missionaries
Text: Ephesians 6:18-20
18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Key Verse: “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak” (Ephesians 6:19-20).
Message
The call to share the Good News of the Lord is great. It can be heavy at times, especially when the harvest is great. Missionaries need our prayers, encouragement, and support more than ever. The work of missionaries is imperative to share the gospel to every corner of the earth, so that all may come to know the truth of God in their own hearts. We may not all be missionaries, we may not all sponsor missionaries, but we can all pray for mission work and missionaries.

As part of our duties, we need to pray that the hearts they meet would be willing to hear and receive the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ, and that all doors that have been hitherto closed to the gospel may swing open by the influence of the Holy Spirit. We need to pray that our missionaries will stand before people not fearing their tough stance against the gospel. We should pray to lift up missionaries who are discouraged to receive reassurance and comfort from God and for protection and provision for their families.
Quote: We can all pray for mission work
Challenge: Lift up missionaries in your prayers.
Prayer for today: Lord, empower me to pray for missionaries, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
