DCLM Higher Everyday 3 May 2025 — Meddle Not With Mockers

DCLM Higher Everyday 3 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Meddle Not With Mockers

Topic: Meddle Not With Mockers

Text: Jude 1:17-21

17But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

20But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

21Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Key Verse: “How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts” (Jude 1:18).

Message

Mockers are those who simply ignore wisdom like the fool. They actively oppose wisdom by demeaning those who are wise. Mockers jeer or mock at godly people and sacred things. Scriptures warn that we should not meddle with mockers and scoffers. Some mockers say that there is no God, heaven or hell. Others say that Jesus is not coming again (2Peter 3: 3-4). In fact they call good evil and evil good.

Mockers provoke the righteous to get into strife, and do evil. However, like other sinners, they need the gospel. Dear friend, wisely give it to them especially through gospel tracts and the social media while you pray for their repentance. Do not waste time with them in arguments. You can also invite a more mature Christian to minister to any of them who becomes a sincere seeker. God can save any hardened sinner. Think of Saul on the way to Damascus. Jesus knocked him off his horse, and spoke in an audible voice to him. He still saves in these last days despite the terrifying increase in the rate of iniquity.

Quote: Some mockers say that there is no God

Challenge: Keep yourselves in the love of God.

Prayer for today: O Lord, help me not to meddle with mockers.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
