DCLM Sincere Milk 3 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Laziness Leads To Shamefulness
Topic: Laziness Leads To Shamefulness
Text: Proverbs 10:1-5
1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
3The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Key Verse: “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” Proverbs 10:5
Message
God loves us so much and wants the best for us. He knows that being lazy does not just do us harm, but it can also bring feelings of shame upon us. When we are lazy, we might not get to experience all the good things God has planned for us.

Thompson lived with his parents in a city. He loved playing video games all day long and never wanted to help his parents with chores or do his school work. He believed he could continue to have fun without any consequence. But as time passed, he started falling behind in his academics. One day, Thompson’s parents had a serious talk with him, emphasizing the importance of being diligent and hardworking. He changed his behaviour and became more involved in household chores and dedicating more time to studying. As a result, he achieved improved grades and earned respect from his classmates.
As friends of Jesus, we should avoid laziness and endeavor to be diligent in everything we do. By working hard and being responsible, we can do well in life, avoid shame and open ourselves up to the blessings God has in store for us.

Prayer for today: God, help me develop a diligent attitude in all that I do.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
