DCLM Sincere Milk 2 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Golden Laurel

Topic: Golden Laurel

Text: 2 Timothy 4:6-8

6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Key Verse: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Message

A successful cardiologist, author and marathon runner, George Sheehan lived his life with passion and purpose. Even when he became ill in 1991, he demonstrated courage and determination. He ran life’s race and finished strong. He was engaged in the physical race. The race that is more important and beneficial is the spiritual race. When a sinner repents from his bad ways and becomes a friend of Jesus, he starts the spiritual race. He must then make up his mind that as the worldly athletes are determined to finish well, he must also finish his Christian race well.

Apostle Paul, a man of purpose and vision shares with us the hardship of his past, his present and the hope he had for the future. He looked around, looked back and then he looked ahead. The lessons we learn from this great apostle will enable us to run our Christian race well and finish strong.

As you run the race set before you, take time to think on what you are doing, where it will lead you. You must be determined to fight the good fight of faith, focus on the goal and make it to heaven where you will get your crown at last.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
