DCLM Sincere Milk 10 June 2025 — Repentance not Protest

DCLM Sincere Milk 10 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Repentance not Protest

Topic: Repentance not Protest

Text: Lamentations 1:20-22

20Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.

21They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.

22Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.

Key Verse: “Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.” Lamentation 1:20

Message

Dino started a fight with his classmates because Andem told the teacher he was cheating during the examination. Dino swore and cursed and was crying loud that his mate lied against him. He tore his answer scripts and ran out of the class in protest. Yet, at the end, it was confirmed that Dino actually cheated. The children of Israel sinned against God. They knew the cause of their suffering and defeat, yet instead of turning to God in repentance, they attacked Jeremiah the Prophet, and blamed God for punishing them for their sins. They made a covenant with God to worship Him only and serve Him in righteousness and if they should fail, God should remove His mercies and protection from them (Jeremiah 11:8). Israel failed God. They should have repented from their sins, instead of grumbling and complaining against God.

PRAYER: Lord, I repent of all my wrong doings, and complaining against You. Forgive me and bless me again.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
