DCLM Daily Manna 26 July 2025 — Perseverance Through Faith

DCLM Daily Manna 26 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Perseverance Through Faith

TOPIC: Perseverance Through Faith (DCLM Daily Manna 26 July 2025)

KEY VERSE: “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions” (Hebrews 11:32,33).

TEXT: Hebrews 11:30-40 (KJV)

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

David Livingstone went to remote parts of Africa as a lone missionary. After some time, his missions committee wrote, “Some people would like to join you. What’s the easiest road to get where you are?” He replied, “If they’re looking for the easiest road, tell them to stay in England. I want people who will come, even if there’s no road at all!” Sometimes, the pathway of the Christian life appears to change from a smooth-surfaced road to a stony track or peter out altogether.

It is the life of faith that stands each hero of faith out among his compatriots. They do not navigate easy roads to success. They faced trial and triumph, pain and gain, death and life, peace and war. The exploits of Joshua, Rahab, Gedeon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David, Samuel, and several unnamed prophets and heroes are recorded in the Holy Scriptures as the cloud of witnesses.

We, too, in our generation, can do more remarkable exploits than these men and women subject to like passions as we are. If Ruth, a Moabitess, can, by faith, become an ancestor of the Lord Jesus Christ, what stops a sister Ruth of our age from sinking racial and gender prejudices to carve her name among the heroes of faith in our own time? Daniel stood alone uncompromisingly before the political manoeuvrings of his time. We, too, can outshine the faith of Daniel and humbly but faithfully confront the corruption and godlessness in the corridors of power in our days. Esther, by faith, dared to lead a whole tribe of people who were doomed for perdition to bring God’s incredible power down in the city of Shushan. Her decisive faith in praying and fasting for three days reversed the king’s decree, and the hunter was now hunted and defeated.

Beloved, these things were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Your hope can become substantiated today if you follow the steps of these heroes of faith. You, too, will overcome obstacles and do exploits.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The road to victory is not paved with stones; it could be a jungle.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
