DCLM Higher Everyday 2 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Endure Persecution To The End
Topic: Endure Persecution To The End
Text: 2 Timothy 3:10-13
10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Key Verse: “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15).
Message
Persecution refers to harm, hurt or harassment inflicted on followers of Jesus Christ because of their faith. Jesus made it abundantly clear that His followers would face tribulations and trouble in the world. He aptly identified the disciples as sheep among wolves; harmless people in the midst of a fierce and hostile people. In the battle between good and evil, Christians (the Church), have chosen to be aligned with Jesus. And as long as the epic battle continues, persecution will continue to be a stark reality for the followers of the Lamb. Remember Stephen? He went through it. And so did the rest of the disciples Christ left behind. Persecution may come from civil rulers, employers, fellow students, teachers, neighbours, friends, relatives, family members, people of false religious faiths, or even other members of the church.

The counsel of God to believers regarding persecutions is to endure till the end. Endurance means patience in tribulation, perseverance in well-doing, persistence in prayers and preservation of the faith till the end. “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” Matthew 24:13.
Quote: Remember Stephen? He went through it.
Challenge: Determine to endure till the end.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me the grace to endure till the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
