DCLM Higher Everyday 5 August 2025 — God Gives Guidance

DCLM Higher Everyday 5 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Gives Guidance

Topic: God Gives Guidance

Text: Job 23:8-12

8Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

9On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

10But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

11My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

12Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Key Verse: “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).

Message

In life, we all face decisions, big or small. We are increasingly faced with a vast array of choices and making decisions can be hard. We all need guidance and there is a God who desires to guide our every step. Divine guidance is a term that refers to God telling us what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. In the Old and New Testaments, we have wonderful promises of guidance and examples of those who sought and found the Lord’s will for their lives. We also have a number of very clear statements which show us our need of guidance. God’s guidance covers every aspect of our lives – what to choose as a career, where to live or settle, who to marry, how to execute a project and even when to embark on a journey.

God guides through the Scriptures, through the counsels of his servants, through the witness of the Spirit within, through circumstances or through the still small voice. If you are a true child of God, your ears shall hear a word behind you.

Quote: We all need guidance

Challenge: Making decisions can be hard without guidance.

Prayer for today: Guide me O Thou Great Jehovah.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
