Topic: Avoid Them
Text: Romans 16:17-20
17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
19For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
20And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Key Verse: “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.” Romans 16:17
Message
It is very wise to avoid danger whether in spiritual or physical matters. You will hurt yourself if you fail to avoid objects, people and actions that can harm you. Our Bible passage contains an instruction which must be obeyed by every true friend of Jesus. There are some people who do not want to hear about your Saviour, who mock and dishonour Him, who say He neither died on the cross nor rose from the dead, who do not confess Him as the Son of God and the Saviour of the world, who say there is no heaven or hell, and that it is not possible to live without sin; many other ungodly teachings they bring. They twist the teachings of the Bible to cause confusion and teach things contrary to God’s word. These are the types of people the Bible commands us to avoid.

You have been taught salvation from sins and the ways of righteousness. Do not make friend with ungodly people. Do not eat from the animals they sacrifice. Do not listen to their false teachings. Do not join in their ceremony or celebration. Avoid them.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to identify and avoid those who do not accept the truth about You.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
