DCLM Higher Everyday 21 August 2025 — The Lord Encircles His People

DCLM Higher Everyday 21 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Lord Encircles His People

Topic: The Lord Encircles His People

Text: Psalm  125:1-5

1(A Song of degrees.) They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

3For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

4Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

5As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

Key Verse: “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even forever” (Psalm 125:2).

Message

Today’s text offers us a profound meditation on the enduring security found in trusting the Lord. Just as the mountains encompass Jerusalem, enveloping it in a protective embrace, so does the Lord surround His people, shielding them from harm and danger. This imagery speaks to the intimate care and watchful presence of God in the lives of His children, both now and for all eternity. In this passage, we find a powerful assurance of God’s protection and provision for those who place their trust in Him.

The Lord upholds the righteous and ensures that evil will not prevail over their lives. He rewards those who walk in integrity and uprightness of hearts. In a world full of uncertainty and turmoil, God’s promise to surround His people with His presence and protection rings immense comfort in the heart. You don’t need to be afraid of the challenges in life so long you maintain your relationship with God. As Christian youths, let us anchor our hope in the unshakeable promises of God, and be confident that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Quote: He will never leave us

Challenge: The Lord upholds the righteous.

Prayer for today: O Lord, make a wall of fire around me in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
