DCLM Daily Manna 27 August 2025 — The Person Of The Holy Ghost
DCLM Daily Manna 27 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Person Of The Holy Ghost
TOPIC: The Person Of The Holy Ghost (DCLM Daily Manna 27 August 2025)
KEY VERSE: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come” (John 16:13).
TEXT: John 16:7-15 (KJV)
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Gordon Brownville’s Symbols of the Holy Spirit talks about the great Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, the first to discover the magnetic meridian of the North Pole and to discover the South Pole. On one of his trips, Amundsen took a homing pigeon with him. When he had finally reached the top of the world, he opened the bird’s cage and set it free. Imagine the delight of Amundsen’s wife, back in Norway, when she looked up from the doorway of her home and saw the pigeon circling in the sky above. “No doubt,” she exclaimed, “He’s alive! My husband is still alive!”. Therefore, it is when Jesus ascended. He was gone, but the disciples clung to His promise to send them the Holy Spirit. What joy, then, when the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost, in a flame of fire. The disciples had with them the continual reminder that Jesus was alive and victorious at the right hand of the Father.

Today’s passage answers some questions people often ask about the Holy Spirit. Jesus explained to the disciples that it was essential He went so the Holy Spirit would come to continue the redemptive work through members of His body. When the Holy Ghost comes, He will reprove the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
The Holy Spirit, also known as the Comforter, is the third Person in the Godhead. He is coequal, coeternal with God the Father and God the Son. He is the believers’ Comforter and Counsellor. He guides believers into all truth. He equips ministers and distributes spiritual gifts for effective ministerial service within and outside the church. He must be loved, cherished, honoured, and reverenced by saints. Those who claim baptism in the Holy Spirit just by speaking in tongues yet live in sin and cannot differentiate between error and truth do not have the Spirit of Christ.

Like Amundsen’s dove in our introduction, He gives assurance to the saints that Christ is still alive and praying for us on the right hand of God. Beloved, do you have the Holy Spirit? Is His work noticeable in your life and ministry? Do you possess the fruit and gifts of the Spirit? The presence and work of the Holy Spirit in your life makes a difference.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The Holy Spirit is the assurance we need of God’s presence.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
