DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
It is no contradiction that God’s word teaches joy and a calm countenance when storms or trials arise. Some great men in history embraced that lesson to overcome times that seemed to point to defeat and shame. At 62, after a lifetime of downfalls, Winston Churchill became one of Britain’s greatest Prime Ministers. Consider this also: by age 46, the celebrated German composer Ludwig Beethoven was completely deaf. Yet he wrote five of his greatest symphonies without hearing a note. Twice, US General McArthur was rejected at the military school at West Point. But at the third attempt, he scaled through and stepped into history.

These men faced fiery fights that appeared to give them onlyone option: despair and drop the desire to fulfil their vision. But they trudged on in hope and joy and ultimately claimed success. This is in line with the wisdom of the Scriptures in Proverbs 24:10: “If thou faint in the day of adversity (trials and temptations), thy strength is small.” The Lord employs these challenges to prepare us for His work and best.
It is tragic, however, to observe how today’s generation has refused to take on the virtue of patience when experiencing setbacks. They go for quick-fix solutions that do not take them a flea-hop close to the answer to their problems. It plunges them into a more muddy mire. This failure to joyfully interpret tempestuous situations as veiled opportunities waiting to release our breakthroughs is the cause of heartbreaks in homes, businesses, careers, academics, and ministries.

Faithful followers of the Lord who know better will be shortchanging themselves if they do not subscribe to the injunction to rejoice in crisis. They would miss the exhilarating satisfaction of winning a battle with heaven on one’s side. We must be like our Lord, who joyfully endured the cross (trials and temptations) and is now enjoying matchless glory.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When a Christian rejoices in troublesome times, he surrenders his time for heaven’s glory.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
