1Let brotherly love continue.

Key Verse: “Let brotherly love continue” (Hebrews 13:1).
Message
A Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven, saved the life of a two-year old Nigerian boy accused of being a wizard in 2016. The Akwa Ibom innocent boy, was driven out of the family by his parents and left to starve to death in the street because their oracle proclaimed him a wizard. He became malnourished and infested with worms and other diseases. Anja heard of it and took the boy and named him Hope. She fed him well, gave him good medical care and put him in school. Anja raised funds and built a big orphanage in Akwa Ibom where she, her husband and staff care for 34 children accused of witchcraft. She sold her possessions in Denmark to focus on this charity work in Nigeria.

Anja’s example is a challenge to all Christians. We are commanded to love others as Christ did. Preaching and not practising love is hypocritical. “Let brotherly love continue.” Help the needy around you and also reach out to the sinner-youths with the gospel. Make caring a habit. Happy International Day of Charity!
Quote: We are commanded to love
Challenge: Like Jesus, let’s make caring for the needy a habit.
Prayer for today: Fill my heart with practical love, Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
