DCLM Higher Everyday 27 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Spiritual Biography

Topic: Spiritual Biography

Text: Galatians 1:11-18

11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,

16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

Key Verse: “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen” (Galatians 1:1516).

Message

The dictionary definition of biography simply is, a person’s life story, especially one published. The story published in our text is that of Paul the apostle – his life before and immediately after his encounter with the Lord. The apostle had been a terrible and injurious fellow before his encounter with Jesus who came into his life, changed him and made him profitable to God’s kingdom and humanity. Hence Richard Peace said that, in spiritual biography “we view our lives through the lens of the spiritual and search for God’s footprints in our unfolding life. We focus on the aspects that reveal to us the activity of God.”

The greatest story that will ever be told about a man is the story about his encounter with Jesus Christ. Have you met Jesus? If you have met Him, how is your commitment to His cause? Are you studying the word of God like the Berean Christians (Acts 17:11)? What would people say of you when you eventually leave this world? The best time to start writing that story is now – your daily living.

Quote: Start writing that story

Challenge: Make a decision to serve Christ today!

Prayer for today: Dear Lord, grant me a spiritual biography that pleases you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
