Topic: Sound The Alarm

Text: Joel 2:1-5

1Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

2A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years oåf many generations.

3A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

4The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

5Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Key Verse: “ Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;.” Joel 2:1

Message

In every generation, God has always chosen righteous people whether young or old to warn those living in the world of the danger of hell. Those who identify with Christ by repenting of their sins have a responsibility to sound the alarm and turn sinners to God.

God gives pastors to the church for the same reason which is to “Preach the word; be instance in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:2) Friends of Jesus have the responsibility to sound the alarm for two reasons: to warn the church and to warn the world. To accomplish this great assignment, God has placed each of us strategically in neighbourhoods, in schools, in buses, in the market and in the churches to warn the people of the danger of sin and the need to repent and turn to God to avoid eternal punishment.

Your assignment is very simple: sound the alarm; send out the message through personal evangelism, street evangelism, market evangelism, sharing of tracts and Christian magazines etc. No one should miss the message of salvation so that sinful children will come to Christ and escape hell.

Prayer for today: Oh Lord! Give me the boldness so that I will warn others of the danger of hell.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
