DCLM Higher Everyday 18 October 2025 — Man’s Duty To The Maker
DCLM Higher Everyday 18 October 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Man’s Duty To The Maker
Topic: Man’s Duty To The Maker
Text: Ecclesiastes 12:10-14
10The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
12And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Key Verse: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
Message
Solomon, the writer of the book of Ecclesiastes received divine revelation concerning what the whole duty of man should be to his Maker, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12: 13). To fear God is to worship Him in truth and in spirit, love Him sincerely, serve Him faithfully and honour Him above all else.

The only way to show that we fear Him is to obey His commandments implicitly. This is the whole duty of every youth. This is our daily business that brings comfort and all blessedness to us. If you fear and reverence God, you will not allow peer pressure to push you into immoral acts of fornication, pornography, masturbation, cultism, and so on. Are you guilty of disobedience to God? Repent if you are and ask God to give you the grace to sin no more. Make up your mind to forsake all acts of disobedience and the Lord will help you.
Quote: Forsake all acts of disobedience.
Challenge: Do what God requires of you.
Prayer for today: Oh Lord, put your fear in my heart, to obey you.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
