DCLM Higher Everyday 21 October 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God’s Work Is Very Good

Topic: God’s Work Is Very Good

Text: Genesis 1:27-31

27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Key Verse: “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day”(Genesis 1:31).

Message

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He formed man in His own image.  He created male and female for the purpose of populating the earth. God blessed them and gave them dominion over all the earth. He saw all that He had made, and found it was very good. God’s work is indeed very good-from the majestic mountains to the vast oceans and from the intricate details of a butterfly’s wings to the complex workings of the human body. Every creation of God reflects His wisdom, power, knowledge, creativity and goodness.

Human beings are made in His image, and are the pinnacle of His creation, entrusted with the responsibility of being His stewards on the earth. God owns you by creation and by redemption as His child. Therefore, you need to extol God for His wonderful creations and recognize your role as a caretaker of this beautiful world. Let us strive to honour God in all that we do, knowing that His work is perfect and His ways are just. Radiate His glory wherever you find yourself.

Quote: Extol God for His wonderful creations

Challenge: Let us marvel at the wonder of God’s creation!

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, help me to be your faithful steward.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
