DCLM Higher Everyday 11 November 2025 — Bearing Others’ Burdens

DCLM Higher Everyday 10 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Bearing Others’ Burdens

Topic: Bearing Others’ Burdens

Text: Galatians 6: 1-5

1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

2Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

3For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

4But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

5For every man shall bear his own burden.

Key Verse: “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).

Message

There is a story of a man staggering beneath a heavy load of grains, who must somehow get the grains home to his family, but he is about to crumble beneath its weight. A brother saw his distress and rushed to his aid, lifting a part of the burden and thereby easing the weight on him.  In Greek, the word “bear” means to take up or to carry away. The word “burden” in Greek also means weight. In this context, we should take up and carry the weight of other people.

One of the beautiful things about being a Christian is that, you are not alone. God connects you intentionally with other believing youths in order for you to strengthen and encourage one another. There are numerous youths faced with financial, family, academic, and health related burdens.  Jesus teaches us to help the needy around us. By so doing, you would be fulfilling the law of Christ and putting smiles in the faces of the needy. Pray for grace to be able to bear others’ burdens.

Quote: Help and encourage one another

Challenge: Show a little bit of love and kindness.

Prayer for today: Help me, Lord, to see the needs of others.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
