DCLM Higher Everyday 16 November 2025 — Incredible Initiative
DCLM Higher Everyday 15 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Incredible Initiative
Topic: Incredible Initiative
Text: Genesis 24:17-26
17And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.
19And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.
20And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
21And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
22And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;
23And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father’s house for us to lodge in?
24And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.
25She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.
26And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.
Key Verse: “And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking” (Genesis 24:19).
Message
Study has shown that on the average, camels consume between twenty to forty gallons of water at an instance. We read in Genesis 24:10 that the servant of Abraham who journeyed on the search for a wife for his master’s son Isaac, went with ten camels. Isn’t it incredible how that Rebecca took the initiative of drawing water for not only the servant but also for ten camels to drink? This translates to mean that she drew an average of Seven Hundred and Fifty to One thousand five Hundred litres of water just for the camels alone to drink. No doubt, this would have demanded her going the extra mile to get that done.

This initiative was incredible and could only be demonstrated by someone who is diligent. No wonder this made her the answer to the prayers Abraham’s servant made to find a wife for his master’s son. To desire greatness, you must be willing to take great steps. Like a scholar once said those who go the extra mile never experience any traffic jam because only a few ever dare to travel there.
Quote: Be willing to take great steps
Challenge: Those who dare to do extra things are incredible.
Prayer for today: Give me, Lord, the grace to go the extra mile.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
