DCLM Higher Everyday 19 November 2025 — Marvel Of The Widow’S Mites

DCLM Higher Everyday 19 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Marvel Of The Widow’S Mites

Topic: Marvel Of The Widow’S Mites

Text: John 5:6-14

6When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

14Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Key Verse: “And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury” (Mark 12:43).

Message

The widow in our study was very poor yet, she gave two mites which was “…all that she had, even all her living” (Mark 12:44). She threw in hundred percent of her money into the treasure even though she was a poor widow. A mite is a small coin; the smallest unit of coin money used at that time in Israel. Jesus looked on her offering and rated it above what every other person gave, including the offerings of rich people who gave much more than she did. He commended the poor widow for giving more sacrificially than others.

The poor widow’s sacrificial giving remains a good example for Christian youth to follow, today. Youths should learn how to give to God sacrificially, bountifully, cheerfully based on their capacity. Youths are also expected to give their talent, time and treasure to the work of God because God commands us to give and it shall be given unto us in good measure. The greatest thing that a youth can give to God is his or her heart.

Quote: Youths are also expected to give

Challenge: Give to God sacrificially, bountifully, cheerfully.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to give my all to you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
