DCLM Higher Everyday 22 November 2025 — A Destined Deliverer
DCLM Higher Everyday 22 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Destined Deliverer
Topic: A Destined Deliverer
Text: Judges 13:15-25
15And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
17And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
18And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
19So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
21But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
22And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
24And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
25And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
Key Verse: “And the woman bare a son and called his name Samson: and the child grew and the Lord blessed him, And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol” (Judges 13: 24-25).
Message
Our text of study today opens up with a barren family woman. The wife of a man named Manoah, was visited by the angel of the Lord. She was told that she would give birth to a son. This promise was later confirmed to Manoah and his wife as they offered an offering upon a rock. Samson’s mother was told that he would be used of the Lord to deliver Israel from their enemies. Samson was destined to be a deliverer to Israel. He succeeded for a while in his destined task before his character flaw made him fall.

In Matthew 1:21, the Angel pronounced Jesus, our Lord and Saviour as a destined deliverer. He is the light in this dark and sinful world. He came to deliver us from sin and its consequences, and to destroy the works of the devil. Sinning youths should come to the Great Deliverer and be free! All you need to do is to accept Christ as you Lord through a prayer of repentance. Don’t remain in bondage to sin, Satan and his cohorts.
Quote: Don’t remain in bondage to sin
Challenge: Accept Christ, and be delivered from all calamities.
Prayer for today: Deliver me oh Lord, and make me a destiny changer.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
