Topic: Mary’s Wise Choice
Text: Luke 10:38-42
38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Key Verse: “But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42
Message
Everyone on earth is blessed with the power of choice! Whether it is what food to eat, what clothes to wear, or who to spend time with, our choices shape our lives. But with such power comes great responsibility. We are in charge of our choices, and they can make a big difference in our lives. Remember: Your choices will determine what you will become in future.

Every choice is like taking a step on a path, either bringing us closer to God or leading us away. In today’s text, Jesus praised Mary for choosing to listen to God’s word, calling it the best decision. There are lots of choices in the world, and sometimes things might seem good but distract us from God. As friends of Jesus, we need to choose wisely and make sure nothing stops us from going to church to hear God’s word, which helps us grow.
When we make the choice to love Jesus, to follow God’s word, and to live in a way that honours Him, we open ourselves up to the abundant blessings that He has promised.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help us to choose what is best every day.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
