DCLM Higher Everyday 15 January 2026 — Purity And Healthy Boundaries
DCLM Higher Everyday 15 January 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Purity And Healthy Boundaries
Topic: Purity And Healthy Boundaries
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
Key Verse: “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness” (1 Thessalonians 4: 7).
Message
Purity is the virtue of being undefiled, uncorrupted or uncontaminated through lust or inordinate relationship with the opposite or same gender. Youths are commanded to run away from youthful lust which is capable of ruining their relationship with God. The young Joseph understood what it means to maintain purity and resisted the temptation of Potiphar’s wife to defile himself with this ungodly and immoral woman. He knew purity would lead to promotion and fulfilment in life. Immoral relationship with the opposite or same gender can negatively affect your health and life in general. Many have contracted diseases like HIV/AIDS, and other STDs. Shame and unfulfilled dreams have also followed as consequences of flouting God’s word on purity. It brought curses on Reuben and denied Amnon the throne. Moreover, fornication destroys, defames and eventually damns the soul in hell if not repented of.

The call, through Apostle Paul, is for you to walk in purity and please God. To do this, you have to repent of all forms of impurities and believe in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ for total cleansing.
Quote: Repent of all forms of impurities
Challenge: Keep yourself pure.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me the grace to always maintain purity.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
