Topic: Your Strong Reasons

Text: Isaiah 41:21-26

21Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

22Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

24Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

25I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

Key Verse: “Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.” Isaiah 41:21

Message

Pennia was caught cheating during the promotion examination. The supervisor saw her and drew near, coming from behind. “Pen, why are you doing that?” the teacher queried. The teacher wanted to know why Pennia should not be punished for her wrong action. “I wanted to see whether what he was writing was correct.” Pennia answered. Pennia had a reason for her action. But her reason was neither strong enough to answer for her offence nor was it acceptable to her teacher. Children always, quickly find reasons for their wrong actions. Sadly, many of these reasons are not genuine. In our Bible passage, God requires the causes and reasons from the children of Israel why they should not be punished for forsaking the living God to worship gods made by men. Israel’s action was of no benefit to them. What good would worshipping stone and wood do to anyone? People always find reasons for their wicked and ungodly actions. That is the lifestyle of the ungodly. What reason would Israel give for forsaking such a kind and loving God.

What reasons do you have for rejecting the way of righteousness and for being disobedient to Christ’s instructions? Reject every reason or excuse you have been giving for continuing in sin. Repent from your evil ways and the Lord will forgive you.

Prayer for today: No reason will avail for my sin. Lord, I ask for your forgiveness and cleansing of my heart.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
