Topic: Forget Not
Text: Psalm 103:1-5
1(A Psalm of David.) Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Key Verse: Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalm 103:2
Message
The tendency to forget good things and kind people is in everyone. Joseph had shown great kindness to Pharaoh’s butler. He cared and comforted him while he was in prison which was a time of distress and fear. He interpreted his dream. He pleaded with him to remember him and speak to Pharaoh about him; that though he did nothing wrong, yet, he was put in prison. The butler, after receiving relief, simply forgot Joseph. Our Bible passage is instructive, children of God should never forget to be thankful for every bit of kindness done to them by others particularly, by God. The Psalmist would have observed this ungrateful attitude in himself and other Israelites. That may be why he sounded the warning to us, children of God. It is important that we do not forget God’s great kindness of the forgiveness and cleansing of our sin.

You should not for any reason forget the daily goodness and mercy of God upon your life. Never you forget the blessing of salvation that gives you peace with God here on earth and hope of eternal rest in heaven, to the daily deliverance from evil, protection and provisions from the Lord. The moment you start taking the goodness of God in your life as common to all or the moment you start thinking that God has not done enough to help you, that moment you start forgetting Him. Be always thankful to God and never forget all His benefits.

Prayer for today: Lord, deliver me from the temptation of forgetting Your mercies and goodness toward me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
