Topic: Helper In Time Of Weakness

Text: Romans 8: 24-28

24For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Key Verse: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: …” Romans 8:26a

Message

There is no time we need help more than in our time of weakness. At such a time we are weak, afraid and unable to help ourselves. A time of weakness comes in the life of everyone. Those who do not have strong helpers fail and cry while those who have the divine Helper overcome and rejoice. Physical weakness is bad, but spiritual weakness is worse. Our Bible passage mentions infirmity or sickness. One can be physically sick, but spiritually ready to go to heaven. But the spiritually sick may never see God in His glory.

Our Bible passage directs friends of Jesus to the unfailing Helper. We must choose to trust and depend on Him. We do that firstly, by realizing that we do not know what our needs are. And secondly, we do not know how to pray for them. It is through prayer that we receive all our needs from God. If we do not pray aright we miss all we need. We must therefore seek the help of the One Who can intercede with groanings for us. This we can do by living a life that is pleasing and not grieving to Him.

You need a helper who is willing to help you. Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believe in Jesus? The Holy Spirit, the divine Helper is willing to live in your young heart too. Take time to pray for His presence in your life. He comforts and helps His children.

Prayer for today: Holy Spirit, my divine Helper, please, help me in my time of weakness.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
