DCLM Sincere Milk 27 February 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Know When To Say No
Topic: Know When To Say No
Text: Proverbs 1: 10-16
10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
Key Verse: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Proverbs 1:10
Message
Brad often got into trouble with his parents because of his association with some bad friends. Through the influence of those friends, Brad got involved in a street fight that got some people wounded. The police came and arrested the bad boys including Brad. After spending a week in the police cell, his parents were able to secure his bail. Brad became sober afterward because of the suffering he encountered in the police cell. He learnt his lesson in a hard way. When his parents called him to talk with him, he became sorry and repented. From that day, Brad cut off his relationship with his bad friends.

Do you know that the people we spend time with can determine our future? Just like choosing the right ingredients in making a delicious meal, having good, kind friends can make our lives better and brighter. Have you ever felt pressured by friends to do something wrong, like skipping class or playing a mean trick? It can be tough to know what to do in those situations, right? But it is important to know when to say No.
Be brave, be strong, and choose what is right, even if it is not the popular choice. God will always be proud of you when you stand up for what is right.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to avoid evil and stay dedicated to You till the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
