Message
Mourning is a pitiful and sorrowful state. Mourning brings tears and regret. Mourners are considered unfortunate and losers. People mourn when they lose someone or something so dear to them. People cannot see any blessing in mourning. Why then does the Lord consider mourners blessed? Christ is saying there is a type of mourning that everyone must pass through to enjoy earthly and eternal blessings from God. They that mourn, weep, regret, become sorrowful and sorry for their sinful and ungodly actions are blessed of God if the mourning makes them to repent from their bad ways and receive Jesus as their Saviour. Eternal blessing and joy in heaven will accompany every sincere mourning for sin. It is the type of mourning that gladdens the hearts of the Father and that of Jesus Christ, His Son. Mourning for sin causes God to pity the sinner and to forgive him.

Don’t delight in or hide your sins. Mourn, cry in regret and turn away from them and the Lord will forgive you, wipe your tears away and bless you with His salvation.

Prayer for today: I mourn and reject my sinful habits. Forgive me, O Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
