DCLM Higher Everyday 11 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Mystery Of Godliness
Topic: The Mystery Of Godliness
Text: 1 Timothy 3:14-16
14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Key Verse: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).
Message
Godliness is simply being like God. It is the continuous act of conforming to His word, His ways, and His will. It is an act of a man living the life of God through divine revelation and empowerment (John 1:12). When the character and nature of God find expression in a person’s life, godliness is at work. To many, this may seem unimaginable – a mystery – yet it is a reality for those who receive the revelation of godliness. It is a mystery because, from a human perspective, it is difficult to comprehend the union between divinity and humanity in an individual.

Our scriptural reference affirms this reality, as seen when the Son of God became the Son of Man. Similarly, Saul of Tarsus underwent a radical transformation into godliness after encountering Jesus on his way to Damascus. Godliness can be a consistent experience in the life of any young person who receives Christ and remains steadfast in Him. Godliness brings great rewards, both in this life and in eternity. Its benefits are immeasurable because “… godliness is profitable unto all things…” (1 Timothy 4:8).
Quote: Godliness brings great rewards
Challenge: You can be godly in all your conducts.
Prayer for today: Help me Lord to always live by Your nature and character.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
